June 20, 2010 by the Rector

In today’s sermon, the Rector reflects on Psalm 42 and the deer which longs for the water-brooks like our own souls long for God. In tracing a brief history of psalmody in America just after the Revolution, she links the singing of psalms with this text and also with Elijah’s longing for God’s voice in the lesson from First Kings. She concludes that God is found in the “sheer silence” and that, no matter what we are going through in our time, we are assured that God is with us.
